Below are some of the specialty services that we offer:
Therapeutic massage, in its many forms, has long been known to be an effective aid in the treatment of stress and its effects on the body and mind. Massage is known to increase circulation and flexibility and decrease pain and spasm. It can provide a sense of well being and promote physical and emotional healing. A growing number of experts recognize the value of relaxation techniques as an adjunct to infertility treatment. Click here for more information
Osteoporosis fractures can rob you of your independence and quality of life because of chronic pain and loss of mobility. It is estimated that one in seven women will have a hip fracture during their lifetime. Only a bone density (DEXA) test can provide early detection, prevention and treatment. In 1995 ParkWest Women's Health became the first practice in Western New York to provide bone density testing. We are the only facility in Rochester to be accredited by the prestigious International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
Dr. Kogut is a certified clinical Densitometrist and our lab Director. He has taught many bone densitometry courses to other physicians around the country. If you want to learn more, visit the National Osteoporosis Foundation's web site at www.nof.org
This service deals with the problems of urinary incontinence, which is surprisingly common . It often, but not always, is due to loss of pelvic support. Some patients know this condition as a "dropped bladder" or cystocele. Other conditions associated with a loss of pelvic support include prolapse of the uterus or rectal wall. Successful treatment requires an accurate diagnosis and starts with urodynamic testing in our office. This is a state of the art test which pinpoints the problem and guides therapy.
Treatments can consist of medication, physical therapy with biofeedback, use of a device or minimally invasive surgery to place a sling. Another support problem is excessive vaginal laxity with secondary loss of stimulation from intercourse. Pelvic reconstruction is the general term used for correction of pelvic support problems.
