Our physicians provide a broad array of OB/GYN services. Special interests are indicated below.


Karen Duguid, MD,  FACOG
Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  Dr. Duguid received her medical degree from SUNY Buffalo and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Duguid is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is fluent in signed English/sign language.


Dianne Edgar, MD, FACOG
Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  She received her medical degree from Yale and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital.  Her special interests include adolescent / premenopausal / menopausal care, as well as infertility.

Dr. Edgar is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is a member of the American college of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Jeff Fichter
Jeffrey R. Fichter, MD,  FACOG

Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  A graduate of the University of Rochester, Dr. Fichter completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Fichter is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  His areas of special interest include infertility and laser surgery.

Bill Harvey
William J. Harvey, MD

Clinical Instructor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  A graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Harvey completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Harvey is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  His areas of special interest include infertility, pelvic reconstruction and surgery and gynecologic ultrasound.

Pete Kogut
Peter L. Kogut, MD,  FACOG

A Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  Dr. Kogut is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Kogut's practice is limited to gynecology.  He treats all gyn conditions, but focuses on the health care concerns of women in midlife - menopause, aging, sexuality, urinary problems and weight management.  He advocates preventive medicine to avoid osteoporosis, heart disease and cancer.


Uma Penmetsa, MD, MRCOG, FACOG
Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  Dr. Penmetsa received her medical degree from Gandhi Medical School and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Leicester General Hospital (UK) and at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Penmetsa is board certified by both the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She keenly pursues all aspects of OB/GYN including pre-natal care, adolescent care, infertility, and menopausal medicine.


Marit B. Sheffield, M.D., FACOG
A native of Oslo, Norway, Dr. Sheffield first came to study in the United States in 1986. She obtained her medical degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Her Residency training was in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota. She practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Coon Rapids Women’s Health in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ob/Gyn at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Sheffield is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She practices general obstetrics and gynecology, with special interest in obstetrics and meeting new families.

Robert Stookey
Robert A. Stookey, M.D.
Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  Dr. Stookey received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Stookey is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  His areas of special interest include abnormal pap smears.
